As the holidays roll around there are two types of attitudes: joy unto others, or bah humbug. Charles Dickens’ classic tale A Christmas Carol offers up a little of both in the timeless stifling of one man’s uncaring greed — namely Ebenezer Scrooge — for a happy turnabout ending following some ghostly adventures. First published in 1843, Dickens’ work has become a holiday tradition. Presented by Southwest Shakespeare Company, this annual production is lively, timely and, with a few well-conceived effects, realistically frightful ‘til the joyous end.
