Lluvia Flamenca

One doesn’t have to be immersed in Hispanic culture to love Flamenco dancing. Relished for its expressive movements, rhythmic foot stomping, flamboyant costumes, and emotional intensity, el baile flamenco migrated from the Andalusia region of Spain in the 1800s. This music and dance is celebrated (annually) at Lluvia Flamenca. Translating into “Flamenco Rain,” sweat should be pouring off performers and patrons alike as Arizona dance troupes Flamenco por la Vida, La Cajo Tablao, and La Juerga Flamenca testify to the life and energy of Flamenco — with plenty of dramatic flair tossed in for good measure.

Dance the night away starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 22, at Crescent Ballroom, 308 North Second Avenue. Tickets are $19 to $28. Call 602-716-2222 or visit
