There's actually a name (and even an acronym!) for the worldwide disappearance of the honeybee population: Colony Collapse Disorder or CCD. The problem for the honeybee and the crops we depend on the bees to pollinate (one third of all food crops globally) is the lack of answers to the cause of the bees' demise and more importantly, a solution.

CCD could be the 21st Century canary in the coal mine for the safety of our agricultural food supply. Researchers are examining the obvious factors; single crop agriculture, loss of biodiversity, loss of natural bee habitats, pesticides, and exposure to disease from imported bees.

Follow the jump to learn more and help solve the mystery.

Central Slope and Humble Seed will be hosting the Arizona film premier of the new documentary, Vanishing of the Bees. The documentary takes a hard look at the economic, political and ecological implications of the worldwide disappearance of the honeybee.
