CCD could be the 21st Century canary in the coal mine for the safety of our agricultural food supply. Researchers are examining the obvious factors; single crop agriculture, loss of biodiversity, loss of natural bee habitats, pesticides, and exposure to disease from imported bees.

Central Slope and Humble Seed will be hosting the Arizona film premier of the new documentary, Vanishing of the Bees. The documentary takes a hard look at the economic, political and ecological implications of the worldwide disappearance of the honeybee.

Plant a variety of blooming plants in your garden.
Check the Xerces Society website or Pollinator Partnership for bee friendly varieties in Arizona.
Limit the use of pesticides on your lawns and in the garden.
Support local fruit and vegetable growers, that farm organically, at your farmers' market.
