A Peanut Butter Chocolate Smoothie For Mikey, "Homemade" Restaurant Food, and Fresh Clams & Spaghetti Recipe

A round-up of tasty morsels from Valley food blogs.

The food blog/writing world was shocked by the sudden loss of food writer Jennifer Perillo's husband, Mikey, this past Sunday evening as he collapsed and died of a heart attack. That same community has shared support by making (#apieformikey) Mike's favorite Peanut Butter pie. Gwen Ashley Walters of Pen & Fork created her own version of a pie for Mikey - a a peanut butter chocolate smoothie. How perfect and delicious. Check out her post and recipe. Walters also tweeted this heart tugging "a pie for Mikey" video by the White On Rice Couple.

Part-time Phoenician and RelationChef Dan Moody shared his spirited opinion of the word "homemade" on restaurant menus. He considers the idea that all restaurant food should be "house made," not "homemade" as it makes you think the chef made the food in their very own home - not exactly the same thing. He thinks it's all about commitment to quality and how you represent your food to guests. You'll be craving a bag of warm tart Chipotle chips after you read his post here.

Food Hunter's Guide to Cuisine "reinvented" a recipe for Clams & Spaghetti. No canned clams or bottled clam juice here, just "live clams and sauce made of naturals juices," a bottle of Pinot Grigo, and red peppers from the garden. Nothing sounds more perfect. Here's how you can make it at home.

Hey metro Phoenix eaters, if you have a food blog or know of one we've missed, leave word in the comments section.
