Beau MacMillan, Aaron May, James Porter and More to Guest-Chef at Tempe's Top of the Rock Chef's Collection Series

Who do you call when your putting together your restaurant's first major collaboration event? Your friends, of course.

That's what Top of the Rock's executive chef Gregory J. Wiener (The Boulders, Marriott International) did when he came up with the idea for his Chef's Collection Series. The series, which features eight guest chefs cooking up three-course dinners focusing on local products and purveyors, will start Thursday, July 11, and run each Thursday following until August 29.

And this celebu-chef event with a view comes with a wallet-friendly price tag.

"It's no so much about foie gras as it is about the farm," Wiener says.

Wiener tells me his Chef's Collection Series is part of an ongoing effort he started after coming on board two-and-a-half years ago to bring the restaurant back to a more cuisine-centered status.

And Wiener is making sure the price is right, too. Each three-course dinner will cost $35 (optional wine and beer pairings can be had for an additional cost), start with a reception at 6:30 p.m., and be kept to around thirty guests. "It's going to be a fun time," Wiener says of being able to cook alongside his chef-friends at the event. "Just put your ego at the door and cook your heart out."
