The $55,000 Cupcake We Are Dying To Eat. And Wear.

A cupcake shop in Philadelphia is giving "carrot cake" a whole new meaning. Doesn't a "carat cake" sound even more appetizing? We think so.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Cupcakes Gourmet is rolling out a brand new, glistening cupcake that will undoubtedly impress your loved one and drain your bank account. The store is reinventing their already popular red velvet cupcakes by setting an 8-carat diamond ring from Warwick Jewelers on top, naturally called the Sparking Red Velvet Cupcake.

Owner and executive pastry chef Maki Garcia-Evans thinks the idea is a no brainer, because naturally there's no better combo than bling and bakery.

"There's no sweeter way to pop the question to your significant other than with a dreamy cupcake with a diamond engagement ring sitting on top," Garcia Evans said in a press release. "A diamond is worth a thousand words, but with a cupcake, it's worth more."

If you don't have $55,000 to shell out on a cupcake, don't worry. Cupcakes Gourmet is also offering smaller versions of the blinged-out treat that start out at half carat and work their way up. You even get to choose the diamond you want to sit on the plush bed of frosting, but you're stuck with the red velvet if you're not a fan. But lets be honest, everyone loves red velvet, especially when diamonds are involved.

No word yet on who the lucky lady (or lad) is to receive the first sparkling red velvet cupcake, but that person will get free wedding cupcakes to have on their special day. That's one expensive wedding cake!
