Scottsdale will get a new destination for French cuisine next week when Bistro du Lac opens its doors to the public. Located at 8320 North Hayden Road, the restaurant and bakery takes over the space formerly occupied by Buster's on the Lake.
Francophiles probably will be happy to hear that Bistro du Lac comes from a duo of French-born friends, one of whom may already be familiar to Valley diners. Catherine Berraud Dufour, of the now defunct Au Petit Four, will serve as restaurant and bakery manager for the new spot.

The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week, as well as weekend brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On the lunch menu, look for bistro staples such as French onion soup and salade Nicoise, in addition to quiches, crepes, sandwiches, and entrees such as boeuf bourguignon and confit de canard. Dinner options include dishes such as coquilles St. Jaques (seared diver scallops), cabillaud roti (roasted cod), and bouillabaisse.
Berraud Dufour has teamed up with longtime friend Thierry Voisin on the new restaurant; Voison will serve as lounge manager. For now, executive sous chef Charles Delli Pizzi will oversee the kitchen, though the restaurant plans to announce an executive chef soon.
Jean Claude Melito, the restaurant's executive pastry chef, will provide diners with an array of classic French pastries including croissants, macarons, fresh-baked breads, and cakes.
The restaurant is designed to be cheerful with red walls, white accents, and crystal chandeliers and offers two large patios on the lake, a lounge, and a bakery/market.
Bistro du Lac will open Monday, February 2. For more information, check the Bistro de Lac website.
