New Food Truck Alert: Hao Bao, Chinese Soul Food

The rise in mobile comfort food -- mostly southern up to this point -- is taking a turn to the east, the Far East, with the debut of a new food truck scheduled to hit the streets of Old Town Scottsdale tonight.

Hao Bao, a Chinese soul food truck, will be serving handmade dumplings and noodle soup at the Miller Market on 1st Street from 5 to 8 p.m.

"Hao Bao is committed to delivering some of China's most simplistically authentic, delicious, and nutritious culinary staples," according to the truck's Facebook. "The items on our menu are all painstakingly handmade. No short cuts taken here.

"Ultimately, we are out to deliver and redefine what Chinese food in America is all about and would love to share some of our favorite selections with you."

Welcomed into the Phoenix Street Food Coalition late last year, the red bao bus has already made several appearances at Valley locations and is set to appear at the CO+HOOTS Grand Rehatching Party on Friday. The weekly Miller Market, which began last October in the parking lot of JAM, returns tonight from a two-week holiday hiatus.
