Virginia Senior: Caramelpalooza Candymakers

In preparation for Caramelpalooza 2012, we'll be introducing each of the local chefs submitting their sticky, sweet creations on Friday, March 2nd at Smeeks in Central Phoenix.

Today we'd like to present Virginia Senior of Urban Beans. An architect and fine artist, Virginia believes in the power of design and sees food as just another medium through which she can create art.

If I wasn't a chef/baker/architect/artist, I'd like to be a sommelier in Spain.

The last book I read was Phoenix zoning code? I don't remember, but I'm sure it was good!

The best part of living is Phoenix is that it isn't set in its ways. The best part is also the worst part. It's a blank canvas, so I'm not forced to be a certain way because of my street or address but at the same time, I'm not inspired by my street either.

My dream vacation would be a food tour of Europe or Spain.

You'll never see me eat meat. I'm a vegetarian. Not a military vegetarian but I believe in making interesting food that doesn't have meat.

Find Virginia and 17 other chefs at Caramelpalooza, Friday, March 2, from 7 til the caramel runs out, Smeeks candy store, northwest corner of Central and Camelback.
