It's been about a year and a half since Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill announced it would build its newest Valley location on the southwest corner of 16th Street and Bethany Home Road.

Fast-forward through a battle with strip mall tenant Zipps Sports Grill, the battle's resolution, and the restaurant's construction. Now (finally) it's grand opening time for the new Central Phoenix Z'Tejas on Monday, April 22.
The new Z'Tejas is the 20-year-old Scottsdale-based company's fifth Valley location (the chain also has restaurants in California, Texas, and Utah), and it's one built from the ground-up to blend in with the neighborhood's surrounding homes.
Featuring five dining rooms (each with a different feel), side panels that open to the outdoors, a greenhouse room with a retractable roof, and a "living wall" inset with live plants, the new restaurant will seat around 290 guests and will continue its menu of Southwestern food, seasonal items, and specialty cocktails.
