Number 28: Falafel sandwich at Haji-Baba
Who says you need to spend a lot of money to eat well in the Valley?
At Haji-Baba, a popular Middle Eastern market in Tempe, you can sit down in the adjoining dining room to feast on a variety of goodies -- kibbe, gyros, hummus, tabouli, and more -- for very little cash. One of the cheapest things on the menu, the falafel sandwich, happens to be one of my favorites.
Nope, you don't need to be a cash-strapped ASU student to appreciate the beauty of golden, crispy falafel that's moist and fragrant inside, nestled in soft, warm pita bread with lettuce, tomato, and a healthy dose of tahini sauce. Falafel this good will give you a life-long craving.
