It's not likely that Gilbert graphic designer, Promise Tangeman, often goes unnoticed.

Her high fashion magazine spread-meets-rock and roll style -- big hair, eclectic pieces and loads of artistic flair -- is something of a rarity in these parts. And her creativity reaches beyond her outfit choices.

She runs her own design company, Promise Tangeman Creative, which  encompasses company branding, web design, and apparel -- to name a few (check out her design work, personal style and things that inspire her on her blog).

She answered a few questions for us about what she wears.

What are you wearing right now?
A hounds tooth skirt, a plaid button up, a leather jacket, and leather boots with a zipper, a pair of aviators, and hair in an up-swept whimsical bun.

What was the last item of clothing you bought?
A black sequin vest.

What is the item of clothing you most covet at the moment?
A really rad pair of harem pants with a perfect cut, perfect fit, and details to drool over.

Give us a childhood memory of you and clothes.
When I was 5 years old I had this Alvin And The Chipmunks T-shirt with a big picture of Alvin on the front. It was the first piece of clothing that I had an opinion about. I had to wear it almost every day. It finally got holes and I was no longer able to wear it. Such a disappointment.

Name 5 items every woman should have in her closet.
A fashionable computer bag
A killer leather jacket
At least one pair of funky, head-turning shoes
A multipurpose scarf (belt, hair bow, neck tie, etc.)
A graphic tee

Best item you've bought used.
A great pair of old man's pants that I recreated into my summer jean shorts.

What is your one piece of fashion advice for Phoenix?
In the summer, dress like you are on a southwestern vacation. Don't let it get mundane. Embrace the heat and sun.
