Thanks to the Internet, we've seen our fair share of unusual fluffy characters, from dwarf foxes to zonkeys to the unhappy but irresistible local feline celebrity Grumpy Cat . But now it seems a new four-legged farm animal in the Valley is about to give them all a run for their money.

On Sunday, July 27, mobile animal entertainment suppliers My Petting Zoo in North Scottsdale announced the birth of its newest farm member, Butterfly. But it's not just her sweet looks and equally sweet name that's earning this baby animal media attention. Butterfly is the rare hybrid offspring of a female sheep (Momma) and a male pygmy goat (Michael), making her, what else, a geep.

Owner Priscilla Motola, who was unaware her sheep was even pregnant, stumbled upon the newborn goat with her three children. The geep was presumed to have been born between 3 and 6 p.m. and has been named Butterfly on account of her spotted coat.

The petting zoo is currently closed for the summer, but visitors will be able to meet Butterfly and her furry companions by appointment as soon as the weather becomes more conducive. For more information, visit www.mypettingzoo.com.
