On the fence about whether you're a dog person or a cat person? If you live in Arizona, there's a good chance you fall in the litter category. At least, that's according to the real estate bloggers over at Movoto. The same guys who named Tempe one of the most exciting suburbs in America and Glendale one of the least sinful just published a list of the best cities for cats.

To compile its list of the 10 Best Cities for Cats, the Movoto Real Estate blog looked at the 100 largest cities in the United States and then factored in the following components: pet stores per capita, shelters per capita, vets per capita, sunny days per year (guess how Arizona fared in that category), cat events (believe us, they're out there), traffic score, the number of dogs available for adoption (with the idea being that cats and dogs are mortal enemies), and lastly the number of bird species (a.k.a. flying cat snacks).
In a list of only 10 cities across the country, Arizona came up a surprising three times, with Tuscon ranked first, Scottsdale ranked third, and Phoenix just behind in fourth. Tucson took the gold for its ideal sunbathing conditions, lack of traffic, and high number of shelters and bird species in the area.
While Phoenix received only a satisfactory score in all of its categories, Movoto points out that the number one spot could have gone to Scottsdale had there not been such a high number of dogs. But hey, we're not complaining.
