The Valley Shows Phoenix Through Time-Lapse Photography

Michael Heiland is a student filmmaker with serious talent and an eye for desert aesthetic. His recent project, The Valley, clocks in at nearly five minutes and features a visually stunning compilation of time-lapse shots throughout metro Phoenix.

The video, which was six months in the making, was shot using an entry level camera, a mirrorless Cannon EOS 6 SLR. It's already getting some much-deserved attention -- garnering more than 5,400 views in the first couple days.

From breathtaking views on Piestewa Peak to all-encompassing shots atop South Mountain, Heiland's video certainly reminds us why living in this misunderstood metropolis isn't so bad after all.
