Cycle: Pedal Craft Exhibition Gets an Encore at Phoenix City Hall

Pedal Craft PHX, which made its debut this past April at the Kitchen Sink Studios, is getting an encore presentation in the main lobby of Phoenix City Hall in advance of a new exhibition this fall.

The exhibition is on display now through July 27 during City Hall's regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit brings back the posters and racks designed by local artists and cyclists that were featured as part of inaugural Pedal Craft PHX.

The City Hall exhibition was initiated by Kate Gallego, chair of the city's Environmental Quality Commission, who feels that Pedal Craft PHX is a celebration of cycling in Phoenix and its role in creating a healthier environment.

"Phoenix is becoming a city where its citizens can cycle on a daily basis and be safe," says Gallego. "The City of Phoenix really cares about cycling and hosting the Pedal Craft show is a great way to show some of the investment the city has made."

The exhibit includes original posters by local artists including Jon Ashcroft, Aaron Kimberlin, John Garza and Sarah Thomas (to name a few), as well as unique bike racks by Aaron Voigt and Susan Conklu.

While no sales will be made at the exhibit, posters can still be purchased at the Pedal Craft PHX online store.

The City of Phoenix will also have some of their bike safety comics on hand as well as a new map of Phoenix bikeways and historic neighborhoods just released by the city's streets department.

"We are truly humbled that the City of Phoenix has allowed Pedal Craft PHX to use their beautiful atrium to show local design talent," says Jonce Walker, co-founder of Pedal Craft PHX.  "We hope this will build more momentum for Pedal Craft Volume Two this fall as we continue to works towards our simple goal: induce smiles, build community, help a cause."

Pedal Craft Volume Two will return to the Kitchen Sink Studios on September 28 as part of Phoenix Design Week.
