Buckle up -- a new science café is coming to Phoenix, and this time, it's archaeological. On September 29, Archaeological Southwest, with the help of the Arizona Humanities Council, will be teaming up with Macayo's Mexican Restaurant to debut Archaeology Café, a free forum to learn and converse over matters of Southwestern History.

Archaeological Southwest is a private nonprofit with a title that's pretty self-explanatory. Its members have been delivering the Archaeological Café in Tucson for the last 5 years. Following its success, the program will make its Phoenix debut (as well as future appearances) at 6 p.m. in the Aztec Room at Macayo's Central Phoenix location.
Each month, the program will deliver new topics with new experts, as well as uploading video of all forums to the Archaeological Southwest website. Macayo's will also be offering its happy hour menu and guests are encouraged to order snacks and refreshments while attending this free series. Of course, the under-21 crowd is also invited but the little ones not so much.

September 26: Hohokam Hardball: Debating the Hohokam Decline; lead by Douglas Craig (Northland Research, Inc.) and Jeffery Clark (Archaeology Southwest)
October 17: Turkeys and Macaws and Dogs, Oh My! - Animals and Humans in the Southwest's Past; lead by Alan Ferg (Arizona State Museum, retired)
November 28: Field of Schemes: Lincoln Fowler's Canal and Farm on the Gila River Indian Reservation; lead by Pat Stein (Arizona Preservation Consultants)
