Garth Fagan @ Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts Garth Fagan is the founder, director, and namesake of Garth Fagan Dance, a company known for innovation and blending genres, like ballet and postmodernism. Oh, and he choreographed a Tony-winning Broadway show you might have heard about: The Lion King. Fagan will discuss his technique, dance school, and company on Friday, November 16.

The pre-show talk is free for ticketholders and begins at 6:30 p.m. at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. A performance from the troupe will follow at 8 p.m.

"Equity in the Nano City" @ Arizona Science Center Speakers Timothy Boyd and Ira Bennett will discuss how technological innovations can balance out imbalances in the free market. Hear their takes on the topic at Arizona Science Center on Friday, November 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

"The Hohokam at Mesa Grande" @ Heard Museum Jerry Howard and Tom Wilson of the Arizona Museum of Natural History will talk about the southwest tribe's impact on and history as inhabitants of what's now the city of Mesa. Brush up on your local history in the Encanto Room at Heard Museum on Monday, November 19, at 1:30 p.m.

"Designing the '20s" @ Phoenix Art Museum Fans of HBO's Boardwalk Empire (ourselves included) know that, on occasion, the sparkly spectacle of 1920s style rivals the intricate, gangster-studded storylines. Sometimes we'd rather focus on the clothes, rather than Nucky's latest setback or Gillian Darmody's endless creepiness. Serendipitously, the show's costume designer John Dunn will discuss Roaring '20s fashion at Phoenix Art Museum, along with Doris Raymond, who owns L.A.'s The Way We Wore, a boutique that lent pieces to the current exhibition "Modern Spirit." Admission to the 7 p.m. talk, which takes place on Wednesday, November 28, is free.

"Prehistory, Personality + Place: Emil W. Haury + the Mogollon Controversy" @ Wrigley Hall In conjunction with ASU Museum of Anthropology exhibit "Digging Arizona," this lecture from archaeologists Jefferson Reid and Stephanie Whittlesey explores the discovery and eventual preservation of Mogollon culture. The talk takes place on Thursday, November 28, at 6 p.m. at ASU Tempe's Wrigley Hall in room SHESC 340. Admission is free.
