?Antique Plaza: Treasure Hunting in Mesa

Antique Plaza isn't for the faint of heart. The two-story, 20,000-square-foot antique mall in the heart of downtown Mesa has about one sweet, modestly priced vintage find for every 10 shelves of miniature ceramic figures.

Walking and sifting through every vendor's tightly packed booth would literally take hours. But if you're willing to break a sweat -- and get past the grandmotherly perfume cocktail permeating the mall -- Antique Plaza can be a thrifter's heaven. (After your spree, take a breather at The Royale, Antique Plaza's arthouse-theater neighbor.)

Check out our Antique Plaza finds, all under $50, after the jump...

1. 1970s Fenton footed hobnail vase - $20
Short vases are a subtle, casual alternative to massive, dramatic centerpieces. This vase is a more modern version of the hobnail style that became famous in the early 1940s.

2. Old tube radio - $25
The seller promises that this radio still works, but even if it wears down over time, you can take it to Tempe's Antique Electronic Supply for a tune-up.

3. Barkcloth, 1.5 yards - $29
The pattern on this tough fabric is reminiscent of DwellStudio, but you'd never know by the price. Get started on that upholstery project

4. Six shot glasses - $29.50
It's about time to retire those Dave and Buster's shot glasses. Replace them with this classy vintage set.

Under $50
5. Midcentury modern hamper - $35
This lime-and-gold hamper will add just the right amount of Hollywood Regency style to your bedroom.

6. Rusty birdcage - $40
Vintage birdcages are a sort of staple in rustic, countryside-inspired homes. This one is small enough to be used outdoors as an actual birdcage or candle-filled chandelier, or indoors, styled with some large books or small plants on a side table.
