Phoenix hardcore band Gay Kiss released Fault in December 2012, and some consider it to one of the better heavy albums to come out of Phoenix in recent memory. Now, the quartet's work has paid off in the form of an opening slot touring for punk supergroup Off! -- a Frankenstein consisting of Black Flag/Circle Jerks singer Keith Morris, Burning Brides' Dimitri Coats on guitar, Redd Kross bassist Steven Shane McDonald, and Hot Snakes drummer Mario Rubalcaba.
(Rubalcaba won't be drumming on this particular segment of the tour, though. Instead, legendary Melvins drummer Dale Crover will join the party.)
Needless to say, it's a pretty big score for the band.

"We've had mutual friends in NASA Space Universe and Double Negative go on tour with Off! In the past, and I guess they heard good things about us through them, and they agreed to do it. They got in contact with us," says bassist Jay Paz.
The band includes Paz, drummer Daniel Schurgin, guitarist Mitch Parent, and singer Roger Calamaio, who occasionally contributes music writing to Up on the Sun. The band leaves August 6 and will play 15 shows with Off!
Not bad, right? Unfortunately, Phoenix won't get to see this particular lineup of the band, as Off! played Crescent Ballroom in April. Gay Kiss just finished recording its second album, Preservation Measures, and hopes to release the album later this year.
