Five Best Talking Songs; A Suicidal Tendencies Tribute

It's been a long time since we've heard from thrash-metal stalwarts, Suicidal Tendencies. Most of the 2000s were void of any new albums, as the band lay dormant following their 1990s retirement.

The good news for all you "cyco" fans is that as of 2009 original frontman Mike Muir has dusted off his bandanna to form a new version of ST. Following last month's compilation release, The Mad Mad Muir Musical Tour, Cyco Miko and company continue to book dates. The album features solo stuff from Muir, new Suicidal Tendencies, and his funk metal side project, Infectious Grooves.

The band launched an official ST European webstore yesterday helping to expand their reach worldwide.

In honor of their new venture we've compiled some of our favorite songs that forego all that sing-along bullshit for something we can all do: talk-along.

"Popular" - Nada Surf Let's give it up for winning. That's exactly what Nada Surf did in 1996 with this rant about winning the big game, getting the girl and having it made.

"Detachable Penis" - King Missile

Have you ever been to a party, and get so wasted you forget where you left your genitalia? Yeah, neither have we but if we did at least we'd have a song to talk-along to while we searched for it. Thank you King Missile.

"88 Lines About 44 Women" - The Nails

"Seattle was another girl who left her mark upon the map / Karen liked to tie me up and left me hanging by a strap." The female specimen covered in 88 lines? We're not saying that's the case here but ...

"Walk on the Wild Side" - Lou Reed

The talking song that started it all. OK, that may or may not be true but come on; it's transexuality, drugs, prostitution and oral sex all wrapped into one song.

"Institutionalize" - Suicidal Tendencies

"All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me." This line is about more than just wanting a delicious carbonated soft drink to quench our thirst. We feel you Mike. Thank you for saying it.
