Howl At The Moon Piano Bar Opens Tonight in Old Town Scottsdale

Don't get us wrong, piano bars are a total blast and provide plenty of bang for your entertainment dollar. Both The Big Bang on Mill Avenue and The Shout! House at Westgate feature dueling piano players providing send-ups of songs ranging from '80s faves like Foreigner to modern day hip-hop anthems from Kanye and Weezy.

National chain Howl at the Moon (which operates locations from L.A. to Baltimore) opens up its latest location in Scottsdale tonight in the spot formerly occupied by Lyte Lounge.

Much like its local competitor, the joint features two baby grands sharing a stage. But unlike Big Bang and the Shout! House, Howl's nightly shows involve four players working the keys at once.

Here's a description from their press release:

Two piano players perform for one hour after which they yield the stage to two new players, who join them for what is known as a "four-way" changeover. Occurring at the end of each hour and lasting for two to three songs, this hourly encore allows the piano players to incorporate additional instruments (drums, guitars and saxophone) into the performance.

Sounds fun, yo.

Local clubgoers can snag a few deals at the grand opening party tonight, which starts at 7 p.m. sharp. RSVPing to the guest list via Howl's Web site (by clicking the link that says "Kiss FM and KEZ Listeners, Click Here!") and get in for free, or become a fan of the place on Facebook and a complimentary alcoholic beverage.

Drink up and have fun, y'all. We'll be out there armed with our cameras covering the opening, so be sure to smile big when wanna snap your picture. Maybe we'll even see Davy, who's still in the Navy, and probably will be for life.
