Australian sisters, producers and DJs, Nervo, are the embodiment of what so many others wish they were. They have it all. They work with their best friend, they're accepted into dance music's in-crowd, they're talented songwriters and producers, they're at the forefront of today's fashion and music movements, and are really good-looking (they're Covergirl ambassadors). And what makes everyone even more jelly, is the fact that it all comes natural, they are just that cool.
The duo heads to Scottsdale's Maya Day and Nightclub this Saturday, May 17 -- the eve of the release of their Inspired compilation album.
Although it feels like Nervo only recently entered the music game, Miriam "Mim" and Olivia "Liv" Nervo were absorbed into the music industry nearly right out of high-school. They're unique in that they got their start in music behind the scenes, as songwriters for pop stars like Ke$ha and the Pussycat Dolls. The duo co-wrote David Guetta's 2009 Grammy-winning anthem featuring Kelly Rowland, "When Love Takes Over" (currently at 82,500,000 views on Youtube).
The girls switched gears from songwriting to producing in 2011. Their first single was a progressive, pop-dance track "We're All No One" with Afrojack and Steve Aoki.
Since then, Nervo's style has developed into a loud, melodic sound. They've arguably been strong leaders in the big room house explosion, which is a sub-genre of dance music that combines the uplifting melodies of progressive house, with the bounce and bang-factor of electro.
In April 2013, Liv described their music sound to Beatport in an interview:
"Well, lately, we've been producing a lot of big, 128 bangers, you know, with really big and uplifting drops. That's kind of become our sound a little. We're working on our album right now, and it's so fun to be able to add in some new sounds and new elements -- get a few mid-tempos in there, some structures that aren't so radio - it's a very new experience for us. We're really looking forward to this."
Since then, Nervo's done more than we have a word count for. They've rocked summer residencies in Ibiza, frequent the stages of Vegas' most prominent nightclubs, host a monthly radio show on Sirius XM called Nervo Nation, have a slot at nearly every major dance music festival, have had many number one hits, and have collaborated with countless dance music heavy weights.
