Ten Albums To Still Look Forward To In 2011

As we get closer to the end of the year there are probably quite a few music nerds who are already working on their best of 2011 lists. After all, there have been some pretty amazing records released this year from the likes of Kanye and Jay-Z to the Fleet Foxes. But before you start compiling those lists just yet you should probably be aware of the fact that there are still a few records that haven't been released yet -- records that could very well earn the top spot.

Here is our look at a few of those albums.

Feist, Metals - 10/04/2011

Back in 2007, Feist scored a huge hit with her song "1234" which landed her on everything from iPod commercials to Seasame Street. Now Leslie Fiest is back with her latest album, Metals. Fortunately for fans of the Canadian songstress you won't have to wait long to get your hands on this one --it comes out on October 4. But if that is just a bit too long for you still you can stream the album in full at this site in exchange for your e-mail address. It's totally worth it.

Bjork, Biophilia - 10/11/2011

It's been almost four years since Bjork released an album. What's interesting about Bjork's latest release, Biophilia, is that along with the traditional release of the album there will also be a multimedia app album designed specifically for the iPad. Aside from being designed for the iPad the album was partially composed on an iPad. But worry not faithful Bjork fans, the album sounds just as good as any of her previous releases.

Gauntlet Hair, Gauntlet Hair - 10/18/2011

While this Denver based duos band name will have you wondering what exactly "gauntlet hair" is, you'll quickly be drawn back into the group's music once it starts. These guys have been pretty hyped up on indie music blogs like Gorilla vs Bear and Pitchfork, and judging by the few songs that have been released off of their self-titled debut, the hype seems to be well deserved.

M83, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming - 10/18/2011

While Anthony Gonzalez was working on M83's latest album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming he described the direction of the album as "very epic." Considering this latest release will be a double album it doesn't look like he was joking around.

Real Estate, Days - 10/18/2011

Days will be the sophomore release from New Jersey indie-pop band Real Estate. The bands previous self-titled debut score tons of buzz for the group and even scored a "Best New Music" rating from Pitchfork.

Justice, Audio, Video, Disco - 10/25/2011

If you've been jonesing for some brand new French electro-dance music you're in luck. The French duo of Gaspard Auge and Xaview de Rosnay will be releasing their second album Audio, Video, Disco towards the end of October.

Gringo Star, Count Yer Lucky Stars - 10/25/2011

Aside from having one heck of an awesome name the Atlanta based garage-rock band Gringo Star also makes some pretty good music, too. Below you can watch the video for the song "Shadow," the first single off the bands sophomore album Count Yer Lucky Stars.

Lou Reed & Metallica - 11/01/2011

As we've already pointed out, the fan response so far to the collaboration of Lou Reed and Metallica has been pretty split between love it and hate it. But despite how you feel about the first song that's been heard from the album, "The View," this one is still probably worth a listen.

Atlas Sound, Parallax - 11/08/2011

Given the fact that we've seen Atlas Sound's Bradford Cox popping up in a few places dressed up as Joey Ramone it makes you kind of wonder what you can expect from his latest Atlas Sound album. A few songs from the new album which have popped up online, seem to give the indication this record can be an odd one at times, but ultimately enjoyable.

Childish Gambino, Camp - 11/15/2011

Donald Glover seems to be just about everywhere these days. From the covers of magazines to television the guy is getting some serious press coverage. Not that that's a bad thing. After all he is pretty much the funniest guy on Community. Now Donald Glover will be entering into the rap game with the album Camp under the name Childish Gambino. He has released a few mixtapes already and will release his first album in November.
