Poor Lily Allen. Her pop music hiatus is now very understandable, considering how much drama she's dealing with right now.
Here's a quick recap of the 25-year-old singer's woes: First she suffered from being somewhat of a one hit wonder in 2007. Then in 2008, she suffered a miscarriage with Ed Simons of the Chemical Brothers, who was her partner at the time. Last Monday, a representative for Allen confirmed that she has indeed had a second miscarriage with her boyfriend Sam Cooper. She was six months into her pregnancy, no less. Jeez, that's rough.
But wait, it gets worse. After the more recent bad news about the second miscarriage, Lily Allen is now in the hospital for blood poisoning just days later. And you thought you were having a crappy year.
Allen was hospitalized Friday night for septicemia,
a life-threatening condition. She has been responding well to her
treatment and she's on her way to recovery. Naturally, she and Sam
Cooper have requested privacy while she recovers from this series of
unfortunate events.
In early 2009, Lily told the UK newspaper Telegraph that she spent three weeks in a psychiatric ward,
agonizing over her recent miscarriage. "I was really depressed because
of the miscarriage and I'd kind of lost the plot a bit," she said. "It
was quite a nasty time."
It's time for the music community to
come together and offer Lily Allen their support. Her fans have already
been doing so. Hopefully she will have a very speedy recovery this time
around.
