Thornton is the founder of Paper Clouds Apparel, which is launching a new line of clothing raising funding for special needs schools on January 7.
When you put your key in the ignition and turn on the radio, what station would play right now? The only station I really listen to is 96.3 Real Country. Most of the time I have my iPod playing because the music I really dig doesn't get radio play.
What's the first album you bought? The Very Best of Otis Redding, Vol. 1.
What's the first concert you saw? Jan and Dean with my folks when I was a little kid.
What's your favorite concert you've ever been to? Any of the Aaron Watson concerts I have been able to see. He is playing in Mesa on Friday, Dec 14, and I cannot wait.
What's the last song played on your music player? "Somewhere Down In Texas," by Jason Boland and the Stragglers.
Preferred format: CD, vinyl, cassette, 8-Track or digital? Digital is the easiest due to it making it possible to have thousands of songs portable, but there's something about a great album on vinyl that really makes me happy.
What's your favorite album? Such a tough question, but right now it is probably Chris Knight's self-titled album.Who is your favorite singer or band? How does a huge fan of so many artists and bands answer this question? Since I am listening to Chris Knight's Pandora station in the office, he gets the nod at this minute.What band do you wish was still together? I would have to say that Cross Canadian Ragweed breaking up was a huge buzzkill.Does you computer track how many times you've played something -- if so, what's at the top of the list? "Off The Record," by Aaron Watson, is my most-played song.What was your favorite new or new-to-you album from the past year? Seven Mary Three's Backbooth (Live Acoustic). From start to finish, an amazing album! Everyone I have passed it onto has loved it.
What one song would you play if you had a world-wide radio audience? "Proud Souls," by Jason Boland and the Stragglers.
Who is your favorite local artist? Huge Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers fan.
What is your favorite local venue to see music? Unfortunately, my favorite music venue, the old Nita's Hideaway, is long gone. I like small places like Martini Ranch and also love headed up to the Roadrunner in Anthem and see some great local country bands like The Cole Trains and Sour Diesel Trainwreck.
What is your favorite music video? They still make music videos? But a video people need to see because the song is so amazing is "It Ain't Easy Being Me," by Chris Knight.
