You gotta love the thrill of competition. I sure do. If you've ever played sports, cards, video or board games with me, you know I'm...how should I say it? A total motherf*cker.
That's probably why I love blogging about this kind of thing. I imagine how much fun it must be for designers to read this. Not just because of my witty writing (smug grin), but because it sets creative minds on fire and then the race is on.
The organizers of Phoenix Design Week 2009 (scheduled for Wednesday, October 21st through Sunday, October 25th) have put together a little design competition for this year's poster. The winner gets their design and name slapped all over the event and on over 500 swag bags.
The competition asks for designers to create an image that emodies "what Phoenix REALLY is".
While you're mulling that over, check out the website where a template is available for downloading and all the specs are laid out.
Like I mentioned, the winner gets some pretty decent exposure as well as a bonus of 50 prints of your submission to keep for yourself. And while the winner gets the most perks, every submission will be posted online for open voting on the site from September 31st to October 9th to allow all designers to showcase their talent. Top designs will be printed and displayed at an official exhibit during design week.
Deadline is 11:59 p.m. on September 30th.
