If you're in Mesa today and looking for something to eat, why not stop by a fundraiser for a police family suffering a tragedy?

Mesa cops and members of the Fraternal Order of Police will be hosting an event from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the FOP Mesa Lodge 9, 1452 E. Main Street, to benefit Marcus Rudolph and his wife, Mirna Ramirez.

Last month, the couple's pet dog attacked and killed their two-week-old girl as she lay in a bassinet. Rudolph is a seven-year veteran with the Mesa Police Department; Ramirez is an officer with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community police.

For a suggested donation of $7 for lunch and $10 for dinner, the cops will fire up the barbecue and feed you. Better than a speeding ticket, isn't it?
