Phoenix police are investigating a home invasion where men dressed in police-type gear and forced their way into a West Valley home. Five to six bad guys reportedly wore black clothes and body armor and were armed with handguns and rifles. No one was harmed in the incident, but the suspects stole the family's brown Ford F150. This invasion is similar to previous ones in the Valley, where suspects resembled law enforcement officers...Two professional baseball players were arrested after a brawl at US Airways Center December 30. Police arrested Detroit Tigers catcher Gerald Laird and his brother, New York Yankees prospect Brandon Laird, after they reportedly got into a fight in a lounge after the Suns vs. Celtics game. The just-released report states that Charlsie House, wife of former Suns and now Celtics backup guard Eddie House, claims the brothers' grandfather groped her at the bar, which may have led to the fight...

Phoenix police shot and killed a suspect on a domestic-violence call last night. Investigators say officers arrived at 19th avenue and Bell Road, and found the suspect walking outside. The 51-year-old man, reportedly pulled a gun as officers approached. Two officers fired their weapons, and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure when officers discharge their weapons...Brittney Williams, the Phoenix woman whose newborn baby died January 11 after she put it in a dumpster, has been charged with second-degree murder and child abuse...A Mesa mother has been charged with two counts of child abuse after admitting she locked her 2-year-old son in a closet while she went to work. Corinna May Davis, 21, also admitted to spanking her son and leaving bruises. The boy was taken to a hospital and then released to Child Protective Services...Some Australians celebrated their national day yesterday in an interesting way: they wore bikinis and wrestled in Vegemite. The concentrated yeast extract is one of Australia's popular breakfast condiments, but the "sport" of bikini Vegemite wrestling hasn't caught on so much yet.
