Jan Brewer/Barack Obama Finger-Gate: Was it "Overblown?"

The White House is downplaying the embarrassing scene that unfolded on the tarmac at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport on Wednesday, when Governor Jan Brewer was photographed sticking her finger in the face of President Barack Obama as the two (according to Brewer, anyway) disagreed on Brewer's account of a past meeting the two had.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters traveling with the president yesterday that the incident was "overblown."

"It's not a very big deal, at all," Carney says. "Some of this is political theater, to some degree, I guess."

He went on to say "I really assume you guys have more important issues to cover."

Maybe, but it's not everyday you see a sitting governor shake her finger in the face of the president of the United States.

Brewer has since released a copy of the letter she handed the president before the now-infamous photo was taken -- after refusing to turn it over to the media, that is. It's nothing too dramatic -- check it out here.
