Glendale Police are investigating an early-morning shooting that left a woman dead, and appealing to the public for help in identifying the woman and finding her assailant.
Details are sketchy at this point, but Glendale police officer Karen Gerardo has confirmed police began receiving 911 calls at 5:45 a.m. today, after a resident in the area came out of his home and saw the victim in the road. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a woman at the intersection of 73rd Avenue and Donald Drive.
"She had a gunshot wound to the upper body," Gerardo says. "She was alive when we found her, and we had her airlifted to a hospital, but she died of her injuries at the hospital."
Previous reports state the victim was 52 years old, but Gerardo says the victim's age hasn't been released. The woman did not have identification on her, and Gerardo says police have not been able to identify her yet. The woman was found in an area usually populated with early-morning joggers and people walking their dogs. It's been speculated that the victim may have been jogging when she was shot, but Gerardo can't confirm this, since no eyewitnesses have come forward.

"We're asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything to call our main line," Gerardo says. "Even if they think what they heard or saw is insignificant or unrelated, please call anyway."
