Arizona to Receive $23 Million From Feds to Help Poor People Avoid Wasting Energy

Though going green may not be a priority for many below the poverty line, a $23-million federal program seeks to help them fix energy-wasting inefficiencies in their homes.

The amount each household can receive has been pushed up from $2,500 to $6,500. That seems like more than enough to buy someone a better air conditioner.

Governor Jan Brewer's office says (see news release below) the state will chip in another $34 million to the program, which looks for energy improvements in the homes of qualified applicants. Millions more from the feds is on the way to fund plans to reduce energy use and find alternate sources of energy.

Just wondering, but how's Arizona's Smart Energy Use Plan going?
