Last week, we asked readers to come up with their own captions for the above photo of Congressional candidate "Marlboro Macho Man" Matt Salmon's transformation from lobbyist to cowboy for this week's New Times You Write the Caption contest.

The photo was taken a couple of weeks ago when Salmon headed down to the border to shoot what's been described to New Times as a John McCain-esque "build the danged fence" campaign ad. The folks at Political Mafioso used Photoshop to spruce the photo up a bit.

We had a fairly low turnout for this week's contest (only 23 responses), but we've narrowed it down to five finalists.

However, only one can win the grand prize: a pay-your-own-way trip to the historic New Times building, a firm handshake, and a lukewarm glass of Phoenix's municipal tap water.

The finalists are as follows:

A) Scobob with "I just can't quit ya."

B) wherewasi with "God Dang! Which one of you idiot staffers told me to get Arpaio's endorsement?"

C) wherewasi with "Nothing says "Cowboy" like a shiny white metal cylinder tipped with a blue light containing an vapor cartridge that tastes like a vanilla latte when you inhale it. Coming soon ... Starbuck's Tofu Jerky."

D) Woefatcat with "Matt Salmon in...Brokeback 2: 'Smoke 'em if ya got 'em, Boys! WHOO! WHOO!'"

E) MGH with "There's nothin' like smoked Salmon."
