A Glendale woman was arrested early yesterday morning for allegedly murdering a woman with whom her boyfriend believes she was having an affair.
About 2 a.m. yesterday, Anastasia Baker, her boyfriend, and the victim, Cynthia LoStracco, were hanging out in the Phoenix home of Baker's grandmother, Shirly Drummy, at 1609 West Glendale Avenue.
Drummy told police she was in the bathroom when she heard a loud argument coming from the room where the three were hanging out.
When she went to see what was going on, she found LoStracco on the floor in a pool of her own blood and her granddaughter had left the apartment.
When the two women started arguing, the boyfriend, Kenneth Jenson later told police, the intensity of the fight had upset Baker's child, who was also there.
He says he was in another room calming down the child when he heard "a commotion" coming from the room where LoStracco and Baker were arguing. When he went back to the room, he found LoStracco slumped over and bleeding profusely. Baker, he says later, then grabbed her kid and left without saying anything.
Jensen called police and left the apartment. He later returned to talk with the cops.
Jensen told police he suspected Baker and LoStracco were having an affair. He also told police Baker is known for carrying a knife and he believed she stabbed LoStracco.
Baker told police she knew the victim, but that's it -- she clammed up after being taken into custody.
She was arrested on one count of second-degree murder.
