There's a new addition to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's infamous posse: "The Motor City Madman" himself, Ted Nugent.
Nugent was in town today for a special ceremony at which he was deputized by Arpaio. The two apparently had lunch, too. At least Arpaio claims they had lunch -- the sheriff's ability to define casual encounters is not one of his strong points (just ask Vice President Joe Biden).
Check out a photo of the ceremony, which Arpaio posted on Twitter earlier today, after the jump.
Nugent is an outspoken supporter of SB 1070, telling the anti-immigration group United for a Sovereign America "maybe I'm the only national musician whose brain isn't fried on
mind-altering chemicals. I like laws that support enforcing existing
laws. Call me weird." So he and America's self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff" seem like two peas in a pod.
The Nuge, as you probably know, is also waaaay into guns.
He probably won't get the chance to use any on real criminals, though. Hasslin' shoppers in Valley malls at Christmas time is about as much power as posse members actually have.
