A Scottsdale man was pulled over by police for speeding on Sunday night and decided he wasn't going down without a fight -- and a fight he got, with several members of the Scottsdale Police Department.
From the looks of his mug shot, he didn't fare as well as he probably would have liked, either.
About 9:30 p.m. Sunday, police say 30-year-old Dirk Simmons was stopped for speeding near 100th Street and Cactus Road in Scottsdale.
Once Simmons stopped his car near 108th Street, he immediately got out and started running.
The responding officer gave chase and caught up with him in front of a nearby house where, rather than go quietly, Simmons tried to fight the initial officer -- and then two responding officers showed up to help out.
The above mug shot, and the fact that Simmons was arrested, suggests the officers won the fight, but calls to the Scottsdale Police Department to get an official ruling were not immediately returned this afternoon.
Simmons was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Simmons was later released from the hospital and booked into jail on charges of excessive speed, aggravated DUI, failure to obey, resisting arrest, and two counts of aggravated assault.
