There were two murder/suicides in the city of Phoenix last night, which is way too many murder/suicides for one night.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, one of the shootings occurred in the 3100 block of West Maldonado Road about 8:30 p.m.
The victim, a 29-year-old Hispanic woman, arrived at her home with her two kids, two of her friends, and the child of one of her friends.
When she arrived home, she went to a back bedroom, where she was heard
arguing with her boyfriend, who was home when the group arrived.
When they heard a gunshot, the other women quickly got the children out of the house.
The suspect, a 29-year-old Hispanic male, police say, came out of the
house at one point and told the women he planned on killing himself.
That's when the other women called police.
Before police arrived, witnesses heard another gunshot come from inside the house.
Police arrived and entered the house to hopefully save the victim. She
was removed from the house and given CPR. She was taken to a hospital
where she later died from a gunshot wound.
The suspect was also found in the house -- dead -- with what police say is a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The other apparent murder/suicide happened near 61st Avenue and Thomas Road at roughly the same time -- shortly after 8 p.m.
Police say a man in his 20s shot his girlfriend. Then, they say, he turned the gun on himself.
The whole ordeal happened in front of the woman's 8-year-old son.
The boy reportedly ran to a friend's apartment to call police.
