Late night events have that frisky, spontaneous, verboten feeling: Who will be there? What’s gonna happen? Will someone show up with doughnuts? And so it’s even more fun to anticipate a relatively new happening, as the unpredictability quotient climbs satisfyingly. The latest late show at Space 55 is Out the Box, which focuses, says the Internet, on “marginal voices – the LGBTQ community, women, people of color, and others.” Can’t get enough of that – and we’re promised music, comedy, spoken word, and shenanigans. It’s hosted by Joy Young, “Phoenix's only queer circus-poet” – which seems a bold claim. Or, in this case, an italic claim.
The next box will be outed at 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, at 636 East Pierce Street. Tickets are $5. Visit www.space55.org.
