U.S. Senator John McCain will run again for the position he's held since 1987, telling a local newspaper he has "a lot more to do" for Arizona and the country.
Sure he does. And the 78-year-old will likely be reelected, too -- in 2010, he kicked Democrat Rodney Glassman's butt 41-to-24 percent.
Arizonans know this "maverick" fairly well, but we'd like to remind voters what they're in for if they put this curmudgeon in office for six more years. People get more crotchety in their old age, so we expect to have plenty of fodder for a new list of dumb quotes in a few short years. Here's our run-down of McCain's 10 stupidest sayings:
10.) "You know that old Beach Boys song, Bomb Iran? Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb-bomb Iran."
9.) "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should. I've got Greenspan's book."
8.) "I hated the gooks. I'll hate them as long as I live."
7.) "Maybe a hundred... That would be fine with me." -- McCain in 2008 on how many years U.S. troops might stay in Iraq.
6.) "Fuck you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room!"
5.) "Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? Because Janet Reno is her father."
4.) "I don't use coarse language very often. I have a larger vocabulary than that."
3.) "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt."
