Cher. Beyonce. Drake. There’s a new mononymic superstar that you should get to know: Pina. The writer and performer takes her long brewing personal stories and, with the direction of playwright, solo performer, and New Times Big Brain award-winner, Kim Porter, has whipped them into the new one-woman show Pinhead Number One. The quirky and endearing Pina explores what it means to have been a misfit for most of her life only to find that the prophecy of Huey Lewis has finally come true: that it’s hip to be square.
Pinhead Number One is at Space 55 Theater, 636 East Pierce Street, for one night only on Friday, May 1. Admission is $10. To purchase tickets in advance or for more info, visit www.space55.org.
