You'd better start training now — for a marathon two days of eating, that is. Because we've got the preliminary lineup of restaurants for the seventh annual Devoured Culinary Classic and, as usual, you're not going to want to miss this event.
The two-day culinary festival will be held on
Saturday, March 5, and Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Phoenix Art Museum. Organizers are presenting a new format for the popular event this time around, designating four separate ares for different types of dishes. Unlike in past years, when most restaurants' booths were located in the Dorrance Sculpture Garden, the 2016 event will offer first course dishes like salads and appetizers in the Great Hall and entree-style plates and sample beers, wines, and spirits in the outdoor garden. Local restaurants, bakeries, coffee roasters, and confectioners will serves sweets in the Hardes Theater Dessert Lounge, and inside Palette, guests will be able to browse the new Local Foods Marketplace to sample and purchase products from local food artisans.
As in past years, the event will also feature a VIP lounge with different host chefs on each day. Saturday's VIP attendees will be hosted by Crudo and Okra chef Cullen Campbell, while Sunday attendees will find Vincent Guerithault, owner and chef of Vincent’s on Camelback, in the lounge.
Tickets to the Devoured Culinary Classic are on pre-sale now to Phoenix Art Museum Members and Local First Arizona Localists for $89 for a single day ticket or $159 for a two-day ticket. Phoenix Art Museum Members can purchase tickets by calling 602-257-2124. Localists can purchase tickets by calling 602-956-0909 ext. 1 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, December 7 through Friday, December 11.
Tickets to the event go
on sale to the public on Monday, December 14 on the
Devoured website. Single Day General Admission tickets cost $99, Two-Day General Admission tickets cost $179, and Single Day VIP tickets cost $150.
Leading up the main weekend event will be two additional events, the Devour Phoenix Bartending Competition and Palette to Palate. The bartending competition, which will feature nine local bartenders as well as locally-made sprits, will be held on Sunday, February 28, at the DeSoto Central Market in Phoenix. Participating bartenders will be selected through online voting, and will compete head to head in a series of three rounds for the title of Best Cocktail of the Valley for 2016. Palatte to Palate, which pairs chefs and painters and challenges them to nterpret each other's work, will be held on Thursday, March 3, at the Renaissance Hotel Phoenix Downtown.
Tickets to both events cost $40 or $60 for a package that includes admission to both. Tickets can be purchased beginning Monday, December 7 at the
Devoured website.
