15: Jessica Jordan
Jessica Jordan was born in Tempe, on December 24, 1979 at 3:14 p.m.. She was raised on Disney cartoons, Warner Brothers, The Ladmo Show, Nickelodeon, coloring books, craft time with her mom and grandma, cassette tapes, beepers, her dad's records, VHS, Push Pops, and Y95.5 FM. She admits to being the ultimate year book nerd and photographer in high school and says she hung out at the Nile, Electric Ball Room, Boston's, Tempe Bowl and Sweet Daddy's Arcade on Mill Avenue.
In the summer of 1998, she started working at Binders Discount Art Supply, which led to her involvement with the local arts community. She started at ASU with graphic design, but switched to fine art at MCC; she wanted to be an arts teacher. In 2001, she and her family opened Wet Paint Art Supply & Gallery, in the old Binders location. Jordan dropped out of school and became a full-time business owner (and part time live painter with the Blunt Club). She was 21 years old.
Jordan and Wet Paint Art Supply have since seen a few homes in Tempe, but they've finally landed (and dropped the gallery space) on Ash Avenue. She says she's currently back at school for horticulture, Volkswagens and painting.

1. List five things on your Inspiration Wall (real or imagined):

2. What was your last big project? All my projects are big.
3. What's your next big project? The University Square Mural Project. It will be over 100 ft. I have to go through the City of Tempe to get all the details approved, throw some fundraisers for paint and lock down my artists. I'm hoping to start painting by March 1.
4. Why do you do what you do? It feels right and it makes me happy. I am able to serve the community with the tools they need to create, and at the same time, we are learning from each other though conversations pertaining to their art projects and accomplishments.
5. What's something you want Phoenix to know about you? (And, if you're game, what's something you really don't want Phoenix to know about you?) I am overly stubborn when it comes to my loyalty to Arizona. I was born here, I have a feeling I will die here. Also, I have a weakness for chocolate pudding.
