When we last put the spotlight on 100 creative forces in Phoenix, it was no secret there were more than 100 individuals who were making waves in the local arts community. So as we count down to our annual Best of Phoenix issue, we're profiling 100 more. Welcome (back) to 100 Creatives.

Rebecca Green moved to Phoenix from Michigan this summer (yes, brave), and she's already making a splash in the local arts scene.

The illustrator and fine artist (who says she also dabbles in stop motion and sculpture when she can), is currently working out of The Lodge on Grand Avenue where she says she spends her days making new work and listening to podcasts about brains and animals. Her dream job would be to work on a stop motion film for Wes Anderson.

I came to Phoenix with ... the love of my life and best friend, Matt, our plants, and too many sweaters.

I make art because ... there is so much wonder in this world, and it's the only way I can explain how in awe I am of it.

I'm most productive in ... the last month leading up to an exhibit. That deadline pressure forces me to let go of expectations and I'll whip out basically all my paintings for a show in those couple of weeks. And of course coffee is always present.

My inspiration wall is full of ... pictures of trees and woods, hanging lavender, illustrations from Maira Kalman, Chris Sickels, amazing artists from Michigan, and a photograph from the late 1800's of an old woman with a young girl who is holding two kittens so tight that she is practically smothering them.

I've learned the most from ... jumping into situations. When I get there, I usually realize that everyone is just as lost as I am.

Good work should always ... feel good to make.

The Phoenix creative scene could use more ... hmm..hugs for strangers from Michigan? Also more collaboration spaces and studios where artists work full time.
