When we last put the spotlight on 100 creative forces in Phoenix, it was no secret there were more than 100 individuals who were making waves in the local arts community. So as we count down to our annual Best of Phoenix issue, we're profiling 100 more. Welcome (back) to 100 Creatives .

Lindsay Kinkade is from a lot of places, and says she's glad to call Phoenix home now. She is a community-based designer, public artist, teacher, and documentary journalist.

She is the Principal and the Creative Director of Little Giant Design Studio, a strategic research & design firm that builds tools for dialogue on public issues. She is a co-founder of the new urban design collaborative, Assembly Required and loves to ride bikes.

I came to Phoenix with . . . a dream of the desert. I am intrigued by its mysteries, its palette of bright flowers, its quiet strength.

I make art because . . . I believe in magic. And the world needs more magic.

I'm most productive when . . . I'm collaborating with ambitious experts.

My inspiration wall is full of . . . books on participatory practice, social design, public policy, public art, newspapers.

I've learned the most from . . . my fabulous mentors and reading the newspaper. Designers who want to change the world need to know what's going on in it!

Good work should always . . . be smart & beautiful. The most important causes deserve our deep research and our loving framing of their importance.

All creative scenes (including Phoenix, of course!) will benefit from . . . more participation, more group hugs, more rousing bike rides, more parties in the parks.

The Creatives, so far ... (And while you're here, check out 100 Tastemakers on Chow Bella.)
