His work as the program organizer for Heritage Square First Friday Art Walk, recent photo documentation of light rail culture, and current exhibit of portraits on SB1070 inside of Carly's Bistro, are only a few things that make him a local, certified badass to keep a close eye on.
We played wingman on one of Sean's recent in downtown Phoenix.
The meet up: The night started at Sean's one-bedroom apartment in Roosevelt Square. Sean had just returned home from his bartending gig at Yardhouse and invited me to take a brief look around his place while he did a quick wardrobe change into something more suitable than his work gear for a night out Downtown.
Sean's living room is somewhat representative of his current lifestyle; it designates little room for "living" and a lot of room for his in-house work studio, complete with a developing station for his film and desk space large enough to accommodate the 27-inch iMac he uses for digital printing.
The Attire and Company: Sean's casual style fits perfectly with his simple sweetheart demeanor. He wore a simple black tee with picture of a London Bus under a black oxford button up shirt, a pair of jeans and some black Van kicks. Sean's suggested we grab a drink at a low key establishment before meeting up with friends Anthony Hart and Mark Leach at their weekly DJ gigs at Bar Smith called The Scenario.
Favorite Spot(s): Sidebar for its quaint environment, great drinks and inviting staff. As soon as we settled up to the bar, Sean says hello to the girl behind the bar and politely asks her how her mother is (sweetheart, indeed).
I waited for Sean to take a couple sips of his dirty vodka martini before asking him about his Justin Beiber-esque hairdo. He genuinely made light of the comparison and explained the interesting story behind it. Apparently, a random stranger chose the haircut without Sean's consent as an experiment at a local art show.
Sean didn't know who Justin Bieber was until a costumer at his bar mocked him for the resemblance. "I googled that little shit and there he was, standing with Usher on a purple carpet, with my haircut. It's cool, word on the street is he's getting a new do for 2011."
Though we arrived at Bar Smith a little late and missed Anthony and Mark's DJ sets, there was still enough time for Sean to say a hello to friends and squeeze in some drunken dancing people watching.
We called it a night before close mostly because we didn't have enough energy or enough liquid courage to join the party on the dance floor.
