If you don't know Brad Dourif by name, you may recognize his face. After all, the esteemed veteran character actor has made many memorable cinematic appearances, including the evil Grima Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, racist sheriff's deputy Clinton Pell in Mississippi Burning, the naive Billy Bibbit in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and both the psychopathic serial killer Charles Lee Ray and the voice of Chucky in the Child's Play series.

And come mid-June, Dourif is scheduled to make an equally memorable (albeit far less insidious in nature) appearance here in the Valley at the upcoming Mad Monster Party.

Organizers of the three-day horror, sci-fi, and fantasy convention -- which takes place in mid-June at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel -- announced on Wednesday that Dourif will be a special guest at the event.

Dourif, whose career spans 38 years, is one of those ultra-talented actors who's seemingly played hundreds of roles, many of which are in the vein of sci-fi and horror, including flicks like Dune and Rob Zombie's Halloween remake and such television shows as The X-Files. He's been able to use his tremendous chops to make bad writing and awful movies seem good (at least for a few moments, anyway) while conversely making great scripts and fantastic movies even better.

When Dourif makes what organizers are calling "a very rare appearance" at Mad Monster Party in June, he's also bringing along his daughter, Fiona Dourif. The actress, who has guest-starred on True Blood and Deadwood, is also scheduled to appear at the event.

The Dourifs join what's quickly becoming a crowded lineup of horror-related actors at the Mad Monster Party. Other recently revealed special guests include Sid Haig of House of 1,000 Corpses, Bill Moseley of The Devil's Rejects, and Gunnar Hansen, who played Leatherface in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Organizers announced last month that Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th Part VIII), P.J. Soles (Rock 'n' Roll High School), and Nivek Ogre (Repo! The Genetic Opera) are also scheduled to appear.

Mad Monster Phoenix is scheduled to take place from June 13 to June 15 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel.
