Phoenix is an absolute goldmine for anyone in search of some swanky old-school architecture. However, it's one thing to own an old home, and it's a whole other thing to know how to take care of it. We've seen our fair share of historic homes gone wrong, which is why we're more than a little excited to announce that Modern Phoenix's Alison King has teamed with interior designer Rachel Simmons to host an all-day intensive workshop called Designing for Historic Places.

Designing for Historic Places will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Burton Barr Central Library. The course will cover everything from how to identify and research different historic structures to how to bring said structures back to life in a sustainable and modern way. Guests will be handed the knowledge and resources that are most beneficial in preserving a historic home in Arizona and are encouraged to bring any relevant or ongoing project with them for applied practice.
The one-day event costs $300 to attend, and lunch and refreshments are included. Although registration is open to anyone, Designing for Historic Spaces is a course set up to give LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and interior design professionals Continuing Education Credit. It also promises to be a beneficial experience for those who work in construction and real estate.
