Alyson Hannigan Is Coming to Phoenix Comicon 2015

Okay, it's not that big of a stretch, considering that they're die-hard geeks and all, but if you look at some of the bigger guests they've lined up for the event in recent years -- including Nathan Fillion and Jewel Staite of Firefly fame, as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Eliza Dushku, who (sadly) wound up canceling at the last second -- there's a definite pattern going on.

Heck, Firefly's Summer Glau has even been tapped for this year's event.

You can add two more entries to the list as Phoenix Comicon's staff announced over the weekend that Alyson Hannigan and her husband Alexis Denisof, both of whom are veterans of multiple Joss Whedon projects, are scheduled to appear at this year's event in May.

If you happen to be a big-time Scooby (a.k.a. a devoted Buffy fan), you don't need us to tell you that the couple were prominent members of the show's cast.

Hannigan, of course, played nerdy witch and werewolf-lover Willow Rosenberg during the program's six-year run, including one season where the character ventured over to the dark side and became the show's antagonist.

The actress is equally renowned for her high-profile roles as flute-loving band dork Michelle Flaherty in the American Pie film series and quirky kindergarten teacher/artist Lily Aldrin on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

Meanwhile, Denisof portrayed the brooding Watcher known as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce on both Buffy and its spinoff Angel. It's not his only involvement with Whedon, as he was The Other (a.k.a. Thanos' hooded underling) in the first Avengers movie and played Benedick in the director's adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing.

According to the Comicon website, the couple is scheduled to be at the event on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31. It will reportedly be their only convention appearance in 2015.

They join a lengthy list of Phoenix Comicon special guests that have already been announced for this year's event, including the aforementioned Summer Glau, as well as veteran character actor Edward James Olmos, Jason Momoa from Game of Thrones, Stargate SG-1's Michael Shanks, and famed comic book scribe and Doctor Who novel writer Paul Cornell.

If you're not pretty geeked out for this year's Phoenix Comicon, you'd better start.

Phoenix Comicon 2015 will take place from Thursday, May 28, to Sunday, May 31, at the Phoenix Convention Center. Admission is currently $15 to $40 for daily access and $70 for a full event pass.
