This Friday, Phoenix Art Museum's Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Sara Corchran, is taking a big risk.
Corchran is from from Glasgow, Scotland. She's a trained art historian who's worked in art institutions and museums around the globe, and has been at Phoenix Art Museum for the last four years. And on Friday night, she'll let the crowd do the curating.
ArtPick is an annual event at Phoenix Art Museum that relies on members of the museum's Contemporary Forum and ticketed attendees to choose one of five pieces chosen by Corchran for the museum to acquire for it's contemporary collection.

The pieces up for vote are currently under tight wraps, but Corchran will reveal each along with a bit of history in the Cummings Great Hall at 6 p.m..
Past selections include Robin Rhode's Piano Chair (2011), Maya Lin's Pin River, Colorado River (2010), Kehinde Wiley's Marechal Floriano Peixoto (2009), and Sol LeWitt's Sphere Lit from the Top (2005), to name a few.
The event also includes appetizers, a hosted bar, and a silent auction. All proceeds raised go toward the purchase of the piece chosen by the audience.
Tickets are $120 and reservations are required through the Contemporary Forum website. For more information, contact [email protected]
