Art Detour returns to downtown Phoenix for its 26th year on March 8 and 9, 2014.

The annual event is organized by local non-profit Artlink and offers a weekend full of art appreciation through gallery openings, studio tours, and more.

The weekend event gives the public a chance at an intimate look at local artists' studios and processes, while offering the artists a chance to show off what they've been working on in the past year through a series of gallery shows and studio visits.

Artlink is looking for an artwork to represent Art Detour 26, and be used as the foundation for the event's poster and other marketing materials. The organization is encouraging any artists currently living in Arizona to submit their work for consideration.

The artists' works will go through a juried process to determine a winner, who will receive the $300 prize and have their work featured as the basis for Art Detour 26.

According to a press release from Artlink, "the submitted artwork should create excitement and embody this sense of discovery and intimacy that the public experiences visiting private working studios and art spaces."

Artists can submit a maximum of three works, and the deadline for submissions is Monday, November 18. The winning work will be announced on December 4.

To participate, artists must submit a digital representation (minimum 300dpi and in the format of JPG, TIFF, PDF or PNG) of their two-dimensional piece to the Artlink board via email or flash drive. Along with their representation, artists must also include their current contact information and a brief description of the artwork including titles, dates of completion, materials used, and any other pertinent information.

The artwork must be original and can be made in any size with any medium. The digital representation must be of high enough quality to be used on the 11-by-17-inch poster, 4-by-6-inch postcard, as well as in various dimensions online.

The original piece will remain with the artist, but will be on display during Art Detour 26.

All of the materials can be submitted to Art Detour Chair, Nancy Hill, at [email protected].
